I've spent the last 34 years working in the IT industry and hold an M.S. in Computer Science, a B.S. in Business Administration and an M.A. in Psychology. I've learned a lot, met so many great people along the way, gotten to travel the world and have been challenged professionally and personally. Throughout my career, what I've loved the most is when I've gotten the opportunity to help others. I've known I wanted to do more and give more than what my IT career allows me to give. It's been a journey finding exactly how I could best fulfill that desire.
Back in 2001, when I went back to school to earn an M.A. in Psychology, my initial plan was to become a Psychotherapist. I’m a huge fan of traditional therapy and have seen it help so many people, including myself. However, I've witnessed that it’s far too easy to get stuck in the pain of the past. Sometimes we need a little extra nudge to get over those blocks that prevent us from moving forward. I want to be able to help people move through these blocks. I realized that therapy alone might not be enough.
Reiki can assist people in not just with physical ailments, but also emotional and spiritual issues… helping to move beyond those blocks that prevents deep healing. I believe in a Holistic approach to care that can include (but is not limited to) traditional Western medicine, Eastern modalities, acupuncture, Naturopathy, Psychotherapy, Spiritual guidance, Reiki and Self-care. Reiki helps to heal on all levels... physical, emotional, mental and spiritual, and is a complement to any other treatment. We can't truly heal unless we heal at all levels.
I’ve read many books on spirituality and healing modalities and attend numerous classes and seminars over the years, and I have worked using a pendulum for the last 20 years to help with guidance in my life. I’ve always been very curious to learn more about energy, how it works and how it can heal. Once I took Reiki I, I was hooked on the healing arts. I continued my study of Reiki, and now am an Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki Master, Shamanic Reiki Master & Karuna Reiki® Master. I have also studied other healing modalities, including Advanced IET®, taking seminars/workshops in Hands of Light, Awakening Your Light Body, psychic development, among others.
I hope to share Reiki with others, whether they are going through cancer, dealing with chronic pain or illness, anxiety and stress, dealing with grief, a cold or flu, or any other forms of dis-ease created by the human condition. I am also a breast cancer survivor and a widow. These are profound experiences that changed the trajectory of my life. They have given me an inner wisdom and understanding into human trauma and grief, and a connection to the universal pain and suffering of all of us. Reiki has truly helped me and it's my heart's desire to share that with others.
